Michele Skuza

Michele grew up in North Queensland and spent 30 years as a marine scientist researching the water quality of the Great Barrier Reef. Throughout this time she drew inspiration from her work with the ocean to paint, first on silk and later on canvas. In 2019 she retired to begin a new chapter in her life, living in Gerroa, painting, watching the waves roll in and whales swim by.

For the past 15 years under the tutelage of Ruth Heiner, a highly respected Townsville artist, she has been developing her skill with painting in oils. Her canvases are mainly inspired by nature, foremost the sand and the sea, with subjects such as fish, turtles, whales, seadragons, shells, boats, birds and beachscapes. Following on from a number of traditional scenes of children at the beach she received a series of requests for paintings of dogs on the beach and bespoke pet portraits. Michele commissions for clients their beloved pooch and the individual character of each beloved pet shines through.

Michele’s philosophy is that art should bring pleasure, both to the creator and the purchaser.Michele makes clients feel good and takes them to their happy place when viewing on their walls.
