Callemondah Studios - Tori de Mestre
Artist and teacher Tori De Mestre offers painting, drawing, collage, book-making, lino-block, screen and mono-type printing, plus extensions into textile media, at her home "Callemondah".
Nestled under the magnificent Illawarra escarpment only 20 minutes from Kiama and thirty minutes from Wollongong, this old dairy farming property is a special place of scenic beauty and inspiration.
Established in 1950 by sculptor, May Barrie and her late husband Wim Voorwinden, Callemondah is an active centre for art and creativity.
The stone cottage, surrounded by a charming garden, embodies a living heritage constructed from old buildings which stood in the district.
More recently, retired farm buildings have been restored to incorporate studios with views to the ocean.
May Barrie's stone outdoor sculptures complement the gallery which displays a collection of paintings, drawings, ceramics, photography and small sculptures.
Enjoy viewing the works of May Barrie, Tori De Mestre, and Tori's students.
The Studios are located on a hill, so may be difficult for disabled visitors.
